SPM GRADE 7 JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

The SPM Merit-Based Scholarship is a One Year 100% Tuition Fee Free Merit-based scholarship offered to (an) existing SPM Grade 6 student(s) who achieves exemplarily results in terms of academics and leadership to continue to Grade 7 Junior High School at SPM. Scholarships are renewable if the recipient maintains qualifying renewal criteria.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, field trips, overnight camps, and student supplies for one academic year.

The scholarship does not cover the yearly development fees, student uniforms, PE uniform, international exam fees, books, international exchanges/conferences programs, and extracurricular activities.

This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any school promotional programs. (such as Sibling Discounts etc)

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

The scholarship committee comprises of BOD representative, Kindergarten-Primary Principal, Junior-Senior High Principal, Vice Principal, Counselor, and PTO representative.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for the scholarship, student must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Graduating from SPM Grade 6 by June 2018.

    • Enrolling in SPM Grade 7 by June 2018.

    • Earning a minimum of average score 85 from Grade 4 semester 1 to Grade 6 semester 1.

    • Models the 7 Habits character and leadership. This includes taking part as a member

      or leaders in the Student Lighthouse Team, taking part in the Community Service program, and so on.

    • Demonstrates fluent spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and English.

 

This scholarship is granted based on invitation only. Up to three top students in Grade 6 who earn the average score of a minimum of 85 will be selected by the scholarship committee to enter the interview round. The selection is based on the following criteria:

  • Academic achievement (50%)

  • Average National report scores of Grade4, Grade5, and Grade6 (semester1).

  • Average Progression Tests scores of Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5.

  • Character and the 7 habits (40%)

  • Record of good conduct and 7 habits character.

  • Activities and contribution to school (10%)

  • Evidence of leadership roles, such as participation in the student lighthouse team and community service activities.

  • Evidence of achievement in internal or external competitions.

Should any of the top three students decline the scholarship, the opportunity to sit in the interview round will be given to the next student(s) on the list who meet the qualifications. The scholarship committee reserves the right to nominate the scholarship participants based on the evaluation of the criteria stated above.

INTERVIEW

Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a face-to-face interview with SPM Scholarship Committee. Interview will be conducted in English and/or Bahasa Indonesia.

The committee reserves the right to rescind the scholarship award should a recipient's circumstances change, such as failure to graduate from Grade 6 Primary school or failure to enroll at Grade 7 Junior High School. Should that situation happens, the committee may award the scholarship to the next most eligible nominee who meet all the criterias stated above. 

INTERVIEW AND WRITTEN TEST

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a face-to-face interview with SPM Scholarship Committee, followed with a written test. Interview will be conducted in Bahasa Indonesia or English only. A written test will be administered before the interview to measure the level of English proficiency and logical knowledge.

SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

ONE scholarship recipient will be announced on March 20, 2018. If selected to receive the scholarship, the recipient must agree to the following commitments:

  • Attend the scholarship ceremony during the Year End Performance to publicly receive their scholarship.

  • Actively participate in all academic activities, school events, outdoor activities, competitions, and other activities.

  • Grant SPM the permission to use the applicant’s name and image for the purpose of publicizing the scholarship in media, including school newsletter, SPM website, and social media.
