"Dear Parents and Guardians,

Warm greetings from Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri (SPM) Menteng!

Welcome to the new academic year! I hope you and your family have enjoyed a restful and refreshing break and are looking forward to the exciting journey ahead. Whether you are returning to SPM or joining our school community for the first time, it is my pleasure to welcome you to another year of learning, growth, and new beginnings.

It is with great humility and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Primary School Principal of Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri, Menteng. My name is Mr. Elpidio Batiles, Jr., and I am truly honored to become part of the SPM family.

Over the course of my career as a teacher and school administrator, I have come to the conclusion that every child is special, full of potential, and capable of great things when raised in a kind, encouraging, and supportive environment. Additionally, I think that the best schools are founded on deep collaborations between parents and teachers. Together, we can support our kids' development as responsible, caring, self-assured, and effective learners.

This academic year, our work will be guided by our school theme, Lead Forward, Inspire Excellence, and by three key priorities that reflect our commitment to holistic education and the vision of SPM.

Academic Excellence—developing a genuine love for learning. We want every classroom to be a place where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcomed, and students are inspired to think critically, solve problems creatively, and embrace the joy of discovery. While academic achievement is important, our greater goal is to nurture lifelong learners who are eager to grow beyond the classroom.

Leadership Excellence—developing well-rounded leaders. At SPM, we believe that every child has the potential to lead. Leadership is not defined by a title or position, but by the ability to make wise choices, take responsibility, show initiative, and positively influence others. Through classroom responsibilities, student leadership opportunities, extracurricular activities, and collaborative learning experiences, we will help our students develop the confidence and character to lead with purpose.

Character Excellence—developing leaders with compassion. In today's world, academic knowledge alone is not enough. We want our students to become individuals who demonstrate kindness, integrity, empathy, resilience, and respect in all that they do. Through character-building initiatives, service-learning experiences, and everyday interactions, we will nurture hearts that care, hands that serve, and minds that seek to make a positive difference.

We encourage our students to Be Proactive by taking responsibility for their choices, Begin with the End in Mind by setting meaningful goals, and Put First Things First by managing their priorities wisely. They learn to Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, and Synergize, enabling them to build healthy relationships, collaborate effectively, and value different perspectives. Finally, Sharpen the Saw reminds them to care for their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being so they can continue to grow and thrive.

These habits are more than principles taught in the classroom—they are woven into our daily conversations, our school culture, and the way we encourage students to become responsible learners, compassionate friends, and confident leaders.
