Celebrating Musical Excellence

At SPM, we believe in unleashing every child's unique potential. Today, we are incredibly proud to spotlight a student who has truly found his voice and shared it with the world.

We are thrilled to announce that Raphael, a dedicated Grade 8 student at Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri, has recently achieved extraordinary success on the global music stage, bringing home two prestigious international awards.

Competing against talented young musicians from around the world, Raphael's hard work and exceptional musicality earned him:

  • The Gold Prize in the Youth Category (Ages 11–13) at the highly competitive World Grand Prix International Music Contest.

  • The Silver Award in the 'The Song in You' competition, Group C (Ages 13–16).

Beginning with the End in Mind

As a Leader in Me school, we teach our students the power of the 7 Habits. Raphael’s remarkable international success is a shining example of what it means to "Begin with the End in Mind." Achieving at this level does not happen overnight. It requires setting Wildly Important Goals (WIGs), tracking progress, demonstrating immense resilience during practice, and taking proactive ownership of one's own development. Raphael has shown incredible character and dedication in pursuing his passion for music.

Finding Your Voice

The 8th Habit teaches us to "Find Your Voice and Inspire Others to Find Theirs." Raphael has literally and figuratively found his voice, representing the SPM community with grace and excellence on an international platform. Especially as we celebrate SPM's 30th Anniversary, it is students like Raphael who highlight the incredible heights our community can reach.

Please join all of us at SPM in giving Raphael a massive congratulations for his hard work, dedication, and these well-deserved awards. We cannot wait to see where your musical journey takes you next!
